Troy girls win softball thriller

The Troy High School softball team rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning for an 8-7 victory over Noxon on Monday night.

Rachel Garcia had the game-winning RBI when she singled with two outs in the seventh. The Trojans scored three runs in the final frame.

The team’s Nos. 3-4-5-6 batters created problems for the opponent by going 9-for-16.

Kimmy Klin went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI, three runs and two stolen bases. Ashley Paasch was 2-4 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored.  Dolly Blata went 2-4 with a triple, two RBIs, two runs scored and one stolen base. And Garcia went 2-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Alicia Anderson went the distance on the mound, allowing eight hits and four walks while striking out one.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond

The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.

Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
