SAGLE — A Bonner County woman who was reportedly struck by a truck while cycling on Sagle Road on Wednesday is recovering from her injuries.
Susan Demko has been moved from Kootenai Medical Center’s intensive-care unit on Friday and is listed in fair condition, a KMC official said.
The accident happened at about 9:45 a.m. in the 7000 block of Sagle Road, east of the Garfield Bay turnoff.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remained unclear on Friday. Idaho State Police did not respond to inquiries about the incident. It was also unclear if any citations were issued following the collision.
Sagle Fire District officials declined to identify the cyclist or indicate the nature of her injuries. Her identity was obtained and confirmed through other means.
Firefighter Steve Reeves said the crash happened on a sweeping curve.
“She definitely came in contact with the truck,” he said.
The vehicle involved was described a construction truck fitted with a crane hoist. No further information about the vehicle was available.
Demko was taken by ambulance to Sagle Fire’s station on U.S. Highway 95 in Algoma, where a rendezvous was set up with a Northwest MedStar helicopter ambulance, Reeves said.
