LHS wins regular-season home finale

The Libby High School softball team won its regular-season home finale on Thursday with a 6-1 triumph over Whitefish.
Candace Hendrickson hit a home run and collected two RBIs in the victory. Taylor Armstrong pitched a complete-game five-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.
Amber Grubham and Nicky Lapka each went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Hendrickson was 2-for-3.
At Polson on Friday, the Lady Loggers dropped a 10-5 decision. The Pirates pulled away in the bottom of the fifth with four runs to take an 8-3 lead.
Earlier in the fourth, Libby missed on an opportunity to take the lead with the bases loaded and one out. The Loggers did pull to within one of the lead but could not push any more across until the final frame. Polson got out of the inning with an exceptional defensive play that included doubling off a runner on third.
Lapka, Hendrickson and Jaime Gilden each had two hits. Lapka and Hendrickson had doubles. Armstrong was the pitcher of decision.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond
The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.
Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26
The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
