An unfortunate squirrel caused a power outage in the Kalispell area Tuesday after it got into a large transformer on the south side of town.

"There has been a power outage on the south end of Kalispell that is affecting all traffic lights and power from Center Street South to the Four Corners' area, the Kalispell Police Department said in a press release that urged drivers to use caution around nonfunctioning traffic lights.

The Flathead Electric Cooperative reported that the outage, caused by a cross-up between the squirrel and the transformer, impacted about 3,800 customers.
