City votes for Mayo and Klaus

Voters on Tuesday chose to replace Bonners Ferry City Councilmen Dave Gray and John Langs with challengers Tom Mayo and Mike Klaus for two, four-year seats.

Klaus received 149 votes ,  Mayo 133,   Gray 103,  Langs 94 and challenger Roger Fraser, 44.

Chris  Clark won the two-year term with 221 votes.  He was unopposed.

“The city has two new council members,” Gray said. “The people have spoken.”

“I’d like to thank the voters and I have enjoyed the experience and I think the new guys will do a good job,” Langs said.

Mayo said he is excited about the new position.

“I would like to thank everyone who came out and voted and who supported me,”  Mayo said.  “I hope you all can have a little patience with me while I learn the ropes.”

Klaus could not be reached for comment.

277 voters tuned out for the Bonners Ferry election Tuesday.

“That is a pretty good turn out for the city,” said Kris Larson, Bonners Ferry City Clerk.
