O'Connell named Player of the Year

Former Flathead High standout Meghan O’Connell has been named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year in women’s soccer.
The sophomore at Carroll College led the conference in goals for the second year in a row with 14 and was a key contributor all season for the Fighting Saints, who finished 15-5-1 and won the conference title.
The Saints were eliminated in the semifinals of the unaffiliated NAIA Tournament in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 11 with a 1-0 loss to the University of Mobile (Alabama).
O’Connell was one of six Carroll players to be named first-team All Conference while Carroll head coach David Thorvilson was named Coach of the Year.
As a freshman last year, O’Connell led the conference with 11 goals.
O’Connell was named the Montana Gatorade Player of the Year in her senior year at Flathead after tallying 24 goals and nine assists. She also earned All State three years in a row.
