While it was a familiar scene for Flathead, it was a new experience for Glacier.
After 80 minutes of intense soccer on a chilly, damp Thursday evening under the lights at Legends Stadium, the Wolfpack and Bravettes battled to a 1-all tie in girls Western AA play.
"I'm getting tired of these," Flathead coach Scott Warnell said.
"It just seems like the teams are so evenly matched this year."
This no decision was the fifth tie of the season for Flathead, just the first for Glacier.
Flathead (1-2-5) took a 1-0 advantage at 29 minutes on a Chelsea Shuman goal. Brittany Earnest assisted on the score.
That held up until Maddey Frey answered for Glacier (4-3-1) at 44 minutes. Sydney Sharaf assisted on that score.
"I felt we played very well," Warnell said.
"It was an even game today."
Glacier held an edge in shots on goal, 23-17, and corner kicks, 4-1.
The Wolfpack had 13 fouls to four for the Bravettes. There were no cards.
Frey and Skyler St. Onge both spent part of the action on the sidelines nursing leg injuries, as did Shuman.
"We found out how the other half lives," Glacier coach Paul Holmgren said of picking up a tie.
"It was a little frustrating tonight.
"It was a hard fought, very competitive back and forth match," he added.
"They were banging pretty hard at times."
It was the second crosstown match of the season for the rivals. Glacier won the earlier meeting 2-1. Flathead still controls the series, leading 5-1-1.
Flathead and Glacier are back in action Saturday at Helena, 2 p.m., and Helena Capital, noon, respectively.
