ARLEE — The Arlee volleyball team came away with two wins last weekend.
Arlee beat Two Eagle River 25-8, 25-20, 25-21 last Thursday and St. Regis 25-23, 25-15, 25-23 on Saturday.
The Scarlets were down two points to begin the first set against Two Eagle River but junior outside hitter Melissa Ivanoff changed that. Ivanoff brought Arlee to a 9-2 lead with her serving, including seven aces.
In the second set, Arlee was in a five point rut before climbing back to a close win.
Arlee also battled with the Eagles in the third set but won 25-21.
Going into the St. Regis battle last Saturday, Bigsam didn’t know what to expect. Arlee split with them in the first tournament of the season.
He said his team had to come ready to play.
“They just needed to step up and communicate,” Bigsam said. “Moving your feet and communicating is what wins games.”
The first set was close but Bigsam said the first set is usually close as both teams are warming up.
The Scarlets got into their groove and didn’t stop.
Allaire impressed him when she steppd up and led the team.
“You have to get her fired up and she’ll start playing,” Bigsam said.
Allaire led the team with four kills and had three aces on the night.
The Scarlets will take on Charlo tonight.
