COLUMBIA FALLS — In a tough field, three Ronan golfers carded top-fifteen scores to continue onto the individual State competition: freshman Lomah Woodcock, sophomore Riley Dennis and junior Alex Dulmes.
Woodcock and Dennis placed 13th and 15th respectively in the boys’ and Dulmes tied for 12th in the girls’ competition with Chelsey Oedewaldt of Libby.
Coach Rupe Paulson said he expected to see Dennis in the top 15, but it was a pleasant surprise to see Woodcock on top as well.
Paulson has previously described Dulmes as a “very consistent golfer” and said it was nice to see her score well enough to compete at the State level.
Junior Tiana Antoine finished just one stroke shy of qualifying for the state tournament.
Ronan decided not to compete in the Flatfish Invitational on Friday and Saturday because of the strain on the kids, Paulson said.
“They needed to get school work done,” he said.
Looking ahead, Paulson said, “We’re a young team. Next year — look out. Here we come.”
