Students at Bigfork High School are expressing their school pride with Spirit Week on Oct. 5 through 9, in honor of Homecoming

Throughout Spirit Week, students take part in various themed days. Monday was pattern wars and students in different grades as well as faculty were assigned a pattern or color to wear ranging from camouflage to animal print.

This was followed by nerd day on Tuesday and twin day on Wednesday. Today is tacky tourist day.

New this year, students will get an extra dose of class and school spirit Friday. Along with donning school colors of blue and white for the day, students will compete in activities and events designed to keep them active and spirited, said Charlie Ball, BHS student council advisor.

"We're really working toward school spirit," Ball said. "We thought having the classes compete against each other would amp them up."

In past years, students would take "cluster classes' on Friday with a variety of subjects including yoga and self-defense, Ball said.

This year, students will attend regular first and second periods and then get ready to either face off with girls' powder-puff football and boys' volleyball matches based on class or participated in an assortment of other activities.

These events will lead up to the pep rally at 1 p.m. followed by the parade through downtown at 2:10 p.m.

Homecoming royalty crowned during half time of the football game Friday against Fairfield.

The festivities will finish off Saturday night with the Homecoming dance from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the Bigfork Elementary/Middle School cafeteria.
