TODAY: Great Falls High (0-6) at No. 5-ranked Glacier (4-2)

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. at Legends Stadium (homecoming)

LAST WEEK FOR GREAT FALLS: For the second week in a row, the Bison nearly snuck up and beat a top-notch team. Helena High (4-2) escaped Great Falls with a 23-12 win that was essentially decided with one quarter of offense and three quarters without a deep breath. The previous week, Great Falls was about a minute away from upending then-ranked No. 4 Missoula Big Sky before fumbling the win away. Big Sky scored with 44 seconds left on a 34-yard pass and won 23-20. "We know Great Falls is a very capable team," Glacier head coach Grady Bennett said. "Coach (Gregg) Dart knows how to get his kids ready. They can beat anybody on any given night."

LAST WEEK FOR GLACIER: All the hard work, two-a-day practices and bumps and bruises paid off last Friday when the Wolfpack toppled the No. 3-ranked Sentinel Spartans 24-17 on the road. Sentinel came into the game with a three-game win streak, but Glacier put a stop to that thanks to 17 points in the second half and a defensive effort second to none. The Glacier defense forced six turnovers, headlined by junior linebacker Boyce Ballard's 35-yard interception return for a touchdown. Sentinel (4-2) had scored 40 or more points against the previous three opponents leading up to Glacier. "The kids just understand what that win did for us," Bennett said. "It put us in a position to really challenge for a good playoff spot." Despite an off-night offensively, Glacier was able to rally from a 7-point deficit thanks to the play and leadership of senior lineman Matt Russell, for one.

LAST YEAR: The fifth-ranked Bison (7-5) ran past Glacier 27-13 and spoiled the Wolfpack's homecoming.

HUNGRY AND DRIVEN: Being ranked for the first time didn't go to the Wolfpack's head. At practice this week, Bennett said he saw a team hungry for more. "They're not satisfied. They're hungry to get better and keep improving, and that's the key - to continue to improve," Bennett said.

DEFENSIVE BACKBONE: For the third straight week, the Wolfpack defense held an opposing offense to under 100 yards rushing. "They've really improved," Bennett said. "They have been a bend-but-don't-break defense ... I'm really proud of our defensive coaches and our defensive kids."

COLD FOOTBALL: The third opponent in tonight's game looks to be the weather. With temperatures expected to drop below 33 degrees, both teams are about to see what the second half of fall football in Montana feels like. "I told the kids today, if your goals are to be a playoff team someday then you better be ready for the cold. Playoff football is cold football," Bennett said.
