La Salle rolls past Soap Lake Eagles

SOAP LAKE — The Soap Lake Eagles were unable to spread their wings and take flight Friday night as La Salle capitalized on five turnovers to roll to a 49-2 victory Friday night in Soap Lake.
La Salle’s Dan Brusic returned a Soap Lake fumble four yards for a touchdown to spark the scoring and the Lightening never looked back. La Salle scored six first-quarter touchdowns Friday night to send Soap Lake to their first loss of the season.
After Brusic’s fumble return gave the Lightening a 7-0 advantage, Tony Cacchiotti scored from four yards out and La Salle led 14-0.
La Salle quarterback Mike McGree threw for a touchdown and ran for one to help the Lightening to a 42-0 first quarter lead.
Soap Lake broke up the shut out in the second quarter when the La Salle center snapped the ball out of the end zone for a safety and the Eagles went into the locker room trailing 42-2.
La Salle’s Dane Voelker capped the scoring in the third quarter when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone and the Lightening rolled to the 49-2 North Central 2B Conference victory.
Soap Lake fell to 4-1 in conference play and 4-1 overall.
Cusick 64, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 18
CUSICK, Wash. — Cusick running back Josiah Rhodes scored on a 90-yard scamper for the game’s first touchdown Friday night and the Panthers rolled to a 64-18 mercy-rule victory over Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH).
Rhoades’ touchdown sparked a 30-point first half as the Panthers led 30-10 at the break.
ACH’s Dylan Tipps scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 22 and 65 yards for the Warriors and Reid Ashley recorded a second-quarter safety to account for all of ACH’s 18 points.
Odessa 34, Wellpinit 14
ODESSA — Odessa’s Aaron Bruya scored three touchdowns and caught a two-point conversion Friday night to lead the Tigers past the Wellpinit Redskins on homecoming.
Bruya’s three scores all came in the second half and broke open the game. Odessa led 14-6 entering the half.
Odessa led 34-6 late Friday night before Wellpinit connected on a 50-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 34-14.
