POLSON — The Ronan volleyball team faced two tough opponents last week.

The Maidens lost to Polson 5-25, 9-25, 11-25 and Columbia Falls 12-25, 19-25, 13-25.

Against Columbia Falls, junior outside hitter Alice VanGunten had five kills for Ronan. Senior setter Lyndsie Conklin had an ace while senior outside hitter Chelsey Bourdon had 10 digs.

Head coach Shae Hutchinson said Polson is a tough team but it came down to serve receive, an area the Maidens struggled at.

“If we are not able to get a good pass from the back row the set and the hits are just inconsistent,” she said.

Ronan was much better in serve receive against Columbia Falls.

“We had a lot of touches on the balls, I was glad to see the girls come back after a game like Polson and step it up,” Hutchinson said. “We are getting there.”

The Maidens host Stevensville at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
