Glenn Roscoe Talley, 92, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell. Glenn was born Dec. 30, 1916, in Pomona, Kan., to Walter and Nellie Talley. The family moved to Colorado and when Glenn was 6 years old, his mother died of tuberculosis. He was sent to live with his paternal grandparents who raised him until he was done with high school. Then he moved to California to live with his father and work in the building trades. Glenn served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a merchant seaman during World War II. While in California he married his first wife and had three children. Glenn became an iron worker where he worked in the shipyards and moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1953 to work on large construction jobs around the state. In Anchorage he met and married his present wife, Queveene Colby Beck, on July 4, 1971. Two years later Glenn suffered a major stroke and was forced to retire from iron work. Glenn and Queveene loved to travel and made many trips out of Alaska, touring the lower 48 states while visiting friends and relatives. After they tired of traveling they bought land in Sequim, Wash., and built three houses to sell. Then they moved to Port Angeles, Wash., Wenatchee, Wash., and finally to Kalispell. Glenn is survived by his wife, Queveene Talley, of Kalispell; his two brothers, Earl and Walter Talley, of California; his daughter, Evelyn, and Joe Pickens of Payson, Ariz.; his son, Leonard Talley, of Anchorage; his stepson, Val Clothier, of Ashland; and his stepson, George and Emily Beck, of Condon. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nellie; his son, James Talley; his stepdaughter, Nancy McCarty; and his grandson, James Talley Jr. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the family home.
