Margaret Moore Stone, 91, passed away peacefully, Oct.17, 2009, at Orono Commons Nursing Home in Orono, Maine. She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Raleigh, N.C., and was a former resident of Essex. Margaret was a registered nurse for 48 years, mostly as a supervisor in pediatrics. Once she retired, she focused her love of children in the newborn nursery and then took care of infants and young children in her home. Margaret was a loving mom, mom-in-law and grandmother. She loved her family dearly, and especially loved her dear poodle, Sophie, who was by her side for 12 years. Margaret grew up in Raleigh, and worked for many years in Lumberton, N.C., until she moved to Florida with her husband and daughter where she lived for over 35 years. She then moved to Essex with her daughter and son-in-law where she loved the adventures of Glacier National Park and enjoyed all the wildlife. She then moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Holden, Maine, three and a half years ago, and enjoyed car rides to the coast and loved the fall colors of the changing leaves. Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ralph Swain, of Holden; grandsons, Evan Stone of Gainesville, Fla., Tony and David Swain, and granddaughter-in-law, Megan Wolfe Swain, of Chicago; one sister, Sally Mullen, of Greenville, N.C.; and loving nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Randolph Stone; and her son, Randy, 16, who died in 1958; and also two sisters, Carthy Seymour and Margie Stephenson. Services will be private for the family.
