The Columbia Falls volleyball team had a tough week, losing two non-conference matches.

On Thursday, they lost to Stevensville in straight games, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16.

Kayla DeWit had six kills and two blocks for the Kats in the loss.

On Friday night, things didn't get much better, as they lost to Dillon in three games, 25-13, 25-22 and 25-16.

Brooke Cady scored 11 kills while Kayla DeWit had six kills and three blocks in the loss.

Shay Grilley had 10 assists.

Coach Addy Hines said the girls need to gain better focus and discipline to fully exploit their talent.

For example, in the Dillon game, the Beavers matched the Kats in kills, but also had 10 aces, while the Kats had just two.

"Take out those aces and turn them into kills and you've got a win," Hines noted.

The Kats travel to Missoula this weekend for the Missoula Invite, and wrap up conference play next week with a home match against Polson Oct. 29 and Libby Oct. 30. Varsity match times start at about 7 p.m., after the frosh and JV matches run.

The Kats will play seven games on Friday starting at 10 a.m. and then begin tourney play on Saturday. Lose two games in the tourney play and a team is out.
