Devils cage Lady Lions

WILSON CREEK — The Moses Lake Christian Academy and Wilson Creek battled entered game three of there North Central Washington 1B volleyball conference match tied at 1-1 and when the dust settled after a 29-27 marathon in game three, the Devils held on for a 3-1 victory at home.

Wilson Creek and the Moses Lake Christian Academy exchanged 25-13 victories in games one and two before playing through a difficult and decisive game three, said Wilson Creek head volleyball coach Mike Ottis.

“The third game was key,” he said. “Whoever won that, it was going to be a struggle for the other team to come back.”

Ottis was right.

After Wilson Creek managed to hang on for a 29-27 victory in game three, the Devils scratched out a 25-16 victory in game four to claim the conference match at home. Wilson Creek improved to 10-1 with the victory and the Moses Lake Christian Academy fell to 7-3 in conference play.

Wilson Creek senior Ksenje Fredere 18 kills and six aces and Brynna Stevens added 16 kills.

Wilson Creek’s Jackie Treat was impressive setting up the Wilson Creek offense. Treat finished with 45 assists Ottis said.

“That was a pretty good performance for her,” he said.

Junior Melissa Verhage led the Moses Lake Christian Academy at the net with six kills.

Columbia-Burbank 3, Warden 0

BURBANK, Wash. — The Warden Cougars couldn’t maintain their momentum from Tuesday night’s thrilling five-game victory, falling to Columbia-Burbank in three straight games on the road Thursday night.

Warden fell to 2-11 overall and 2-9 in South Central Athletic Conference play with the loss.

Lindsay Cole led Warden on defense with 18 digs and also added five aces. Emily Shuler had 10 assists and Narcy Guerra had 13 digs in the loss.
