Almira/Coulee-Hartline 86, Pateros 46; Wilbur-Creston 34, Odessa 16

SOAP LAKE — After starting the 2009 campaign with a four-game winning streak, the Soap Lake Eagles are enduring a three-game losing streak following a 21-6 loss to visiting White Swan Friday night.

White Swan scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to break open a 7-6 game late and the Cougars handed the Eagles their third straight loss of the season. Soap Lake fell to 4-3 overall and 4-3 in Central Washington 2B conference play.

The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the first quarter when running back Curtiss Oliva scored the first of his game-high two touchdowns on a two-yard run to give White Swan a 7-0 lead.

After White Swan took the lead in the first quarter, the Eagles responded in the second quarter when junior quarterback Kyler Moats threw a 45-yard touchdown pass and Soap Lake pulled within 7-6 at the half.

Neither team could take control of the game in the third quarter, but White Swan’s Mark Vallo returned a Soap Lake fumble 10 yards for a touchdown and Oliva scored on a 35-yard touchdown run to seal the game for the Cougars in the fourth quarter.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 86, Pateros 46

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) and visiting Pateros combined for more than 1,000 yards of total offense Friday night, but the Warriors got more than 500 of that on the ground and ACH rolled to an 86-46 Northeast 1B Conference football victory.

ACH running back Dylan Tipps scored the game’s first touchdown on a 16-yard touchdown run, but Pateros responded with a pair of touchdown passes to take a 12-8 lead.

The Warriors answered with four unanswered touchdowns to close out the half and ACH led 32-12 at the break.

ACH scored 34 points in the third quarter and the Billygoats and the Warriors combined for 19 touchdowns Friday night.

Pateros scored 46 points in the loss, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Warriors.

ACH rushed for 504 yards as a team and the Warriors rolled to the 86-46 conference victory.

Wilbur-Creston 34, Odessa 16

ODESSA — Odessa came back from an early 7-0 deficit when Easton Crossley scored on a 49-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but Wilbur-Creston kept the Tigers scoreless in the second and third quarters as the Wildcats held on for a 34-16.

Wilbur-Creston scored in every quarter, including twice in the second, to take a 20-8 lead into the half.

The Wildcat’s 20 first-half points would be all Wilbur-Creston would need as the Tigers were unable to find their way onto the scoreboard again until the game was out of reach.
