EPHRATA — The second of two men accused in a string of vehicle prowls on June 1, was sentenced in Grant County Superior Court.
Michael R. L. Stout, 20, Moses Lake pleaded guilty to theft in the first degree and five counts of vehicle prowl. Grant County Superior Judge Evan Sperline sentenced him to four months in jail.
Jimmy D. Wolfe, 21, Moses Lake pleaded guilty to theft in the first degree, malicious mischief in the second degree and three counts of vehicle prowl. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison in August.
The men reportedly broke into at least seven vehicles, including one on Kentucky Drive, two on Northwestern Lane, one on Craig Street, two on Space Street and one on Kristine Street, according to a Moses Lake police report. They allegedly tried to steal two cars, took stereos from some of the other cars and grabbed Power Wheels toys from a lawn.
While police followed a Dodge Ram truck reportedly used in the crimes, they were alerted to two of the prowls, according to the police report. Police followed the truck to Craig Street, where they detained Wolfe. The police reportedly found broken glass inside of his pocket and stereo equipment and Power Wheel toys in the truck. The Kentucky Drive victim identified some of the stereo equipment as his.
When police spoke with the owner of the truck, she told them she loaned the truck to Wolfe, but didn’t know how he planned to use it. Wolfe reportedly stored the stolen equipment in her apartment, where police found it.
Her daughter and son were also in the truck with the men when the crimes were being committed. They pointed out where the prowls occurred, according to the police report.
