Sports Update: Loggers blast Corvallis, 50-28

The Libby High School football team made a successful home debut on Friday night with a 50-28 rout over Corvallis.
The Loggers got out to a 28-14 lead by halftime and then put the game out of reach with 3:55 left in the third on a 90-yard pass from Kelly May to T.J. Benson. The visitors showed some life in the fourth but Libby had built too much of a lead.
Kody Berget scored twice on TD receptions of 17 and 49 yards in the first half. May hit paydirt on a 14-yard run and Benson found the end zone on a 27-yard run – both of those in the second quarter.
Following Benson's 90-yard play in the third, the Loggers then broke off another long one on a 71-yard pass from May to Tyler Troy. Midway through the fourth, May scored his second TD on a 1-yard run.
Benson rushed for 70 yards on 10 carries and had two catches for 101 yards. May completed 6-of-14 passes for 208 yards. Berget had a pair of receptions for 66 yards.
Kaila Forster, believed to be the first female football player in the program's history, connected on 6-of-6 extra points and scored on a two-point conversion pass from May.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond
The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.
Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26
The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
