More than 80 items will be up for silent auction during The 7th Annual FREE CommUNITY Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Boundary County Middle School.

“I called 25 businesses and was able to reach 24, and 24 said ‘yes,’” said Marty Becker, one of the founding organizers for free Better Boundary County Coalition breakfast traditionally attended by 500 to 600 people.

Boundary County Trading Co. will donate all the food for breakfast, which will include pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, ham, milk, coffee and juice. Badger Boosters and students will prepare and serve breakfast.

Auction items include gift certificates for restaurants and motels, a backpack sprayer, books, paint and an auto alignment.

Proceeds will go to the Booster Club and continued improves to the North Hill hiking trail. Eagle Scout Robert Lundgren is working on picnic tables and benches for the area. The Idaho State Department of Transportation and Boundary County commissioners area also involved in the project, said Linda Alt, secretary-treasurer for Better Boundary County Coalition.

Past projects have included funding for the American flag next to Boundary County Library and the new HeadStart building.

Becker said he likes that the breakfast brings the community together.

“It’s not political,” he said. “It’s just getting people together who probably don’t see each other much. You see a real broad section of the community in one day in one place.”
