SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was jailed Tuesday after crashing his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in Sagle in a failed attempt to outrun a sheriff’s deputy.
Philip Anthony Patterson is charged with felony eluding. At the time of the pursuit, Patterson was wanted on warrants for failing to appear in court on a charge of first-degree stalking and violating the terms of probation in a felony drug case.
Patterson, 51, was ordered held without bond on the probation violation. Judge Barbara Buchanan set his bail at $150,000 on the other charges on Wednesday, court documents show.
A sheriff’s deputy clocked Patterson’s speed at 74 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on Gun Club Road, court records allege. Patterson turned onto Spades Road and then down a private driveway, where he crashed into a canoe and was apprehended.
Several days before the pursuit, Patterson was a no-show at a hearing on a charge alleging he stalked a former girlfriend last month, resulting in a bench warrant and the violation of his probation in a 2007 methamphetamine possession charge, court documents said.
