CHARLO — The Charlo volleyball team continued their three-set game streak last week, beating Arlee last Thursday and Two Eagle River last Saturday.
Against Arlee, the Vikings were tested in the first set by Arlee’s serving power. They focused and won the game 25-23, 25-8, 25-11.
“It took us awhile to get going,” head coach Sheryl Kain said. “It went back and forth and we came out on top.”
Despite the hard serves, sophomore middle hitter Kinley Pope was able to earn six digs.
The second and third set went smoother for Charlo. The Vikings played more aggressively, Kain said.
“The second and third set, we looked much better,” she said. “Arlee is good and it showed the first set but then I don’t know what happened to them but they definitely should not be overlooked. They serve well and seem to find the seams when hitting strong.”
Sophomore setter Dawn Blevins had six aces against the Scarlets.
The Vikings then faced Two Eagle River and won in three sets, 25-9, 25-7, 25-9.
Charlo notched 19 team aces, Blevins and senior outside hitter Alex Esterby each had five. Senior outside hitter Jaris Kelley had nine digs and eight kills.
This weekend, Charlo travels back to Arlee for the Arlee Spike It tournament.
