A Bonners Ferry man was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for shooting a goose from his vehicle.

Neal Mouser pleaded guilty to being a convicted felon who’s not permitted to have a gun and hunting a game bird from the vehicle, according to court records.

A witness on April 19 watched as Mouser sat in his truck on the roadway and shot a goose on a pond in Paradise Valley. The witness was afraid to stop, but gave officials the license plate number of Mouser’s vehicle.

Charges of shooting across roadway, hunting without a license and possession of a migratory bird without a federal permit were dropped.
