MISSOULA - The Glacier Wolfpack can cross that one off.

The Wolfpack volleyball team, 4-6 overall, 2-3 league, defeated host Missoula Sentinel 25-20, 25-22, 25-15 on Saturday. The Spartans were the only conference opponent the Wolfpack had not beaten before.

Rachel Cutler had 11 kills and Lexy Boschee 10. Paige Latimer had 27 assists, McKell Bennell five blocks, Cami Mathison added 14 digs and Kendra Bouley had nine.

"To me, we controlled our unforced errors. We worked really hard to take care of the ball on our side and to use our opportunities when they came to us," said Glacier coach Christy Harkins.

"I would definitely praise Paige Latimer for her job setting. She made some excellent choices and really ran a great offense out there today," the coach said. "It's the best I've seen her play all year."

Cutler and Boschee "also made very smart decisions. They hit the ball well and were very efficient," she said.

Harkins also added compliments to McKell Bennett for her work in the middle.

Next up for Glacier is a 7 p.m. home match on Friday against Big Sky.

Kills: Glacier 32 (Rachel Cutler 11, Lexy Boschee 10), Sentinel 30 (Natalie Jones 9), Assists: Glacier 29 (Paige Latimer 27), Sentinel 28 (Kelsey Becker); Blocks: Glacier 9 (McKell Bennett 5), Sentinel 4 (Natalie Jones 2, Morgan McCarthy 2); Digs: Glacier 51 (Cami Mathison 14, Kendra Bouley 9), Sentinel 43 (Bailey Branson 10); Aces: Glacier 7 (Boschee 2, Mathison 2), Sentinel 4 (No leader).

Flathead 3, Big Sky 2

MISSOULA - Hannah Sackett had 19 kills and the Flathead defense recorded 68 digs as the Bravette volleyball team rallied to beat host Missoula Big Sky in five sets.

Scores were 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24, 15-13.

"We just had a really slow start. We just couldn't put anything together. The effort was there, but nothing was clicking. It was kind of like chaos," said Flathead coach Leon Wilcox.

The Bravettes, 2-4, actually started their rally late in the second set. They were down 20-9 and 24-10 in that set.

"But that's when we started putting some fight back in our game," the coach said.

"It wasn't like Big Sky (0-5, 2-9) fell down and gave it to us," he added.

"It was good volleyball. It was exciting. The back row really got after it. We played with a lot of guts.

"Our offense wasn't exactly full force, but they played hard, they played gutsy … and the back row really got after it.

"Jaimee Zorn did a real good job in the back row. She was really working hard to keep everybody connected and playing together. She played with a lot of heart," he added.

Other Flathead leaders were Kwyn Johnson with three blocks, Mary Allen with 19 digs and two aces and Alison Lunde with 40 assists.
