MISSOULA — The Arlee cross country team got a look at where the state meet will be held, last weekend.

At the Mountain West Classic on Saturday, Arlee runners learned where they need to improve before the state meet.

The competition also had more division C teams, giving Arlee a good idea of the competition.

The entire boy’s team had personal records with Jesse Pfau and David Jimenez both finishing in under 19 minutes.

“There isn’t more I could have asked for,” head coach Katea Dreiling said.

John Sansavere was on pace for the first two-and-a-half mile but a misstep late in the race affected his finish time. He recovered and was the third Warrior to cross the line in 20:01.

“I don’t expect it to be an issue for other meets, though,” Dreiling said. “He’ll be back up with Pfau. I actually am confident that we’ll have four runners under 19 minutes by state.”

The Scarlets are learning from every meet, Dreiling said, and are reaching for their mile splits.

Kristyn Adams was five seconds shy of her goal and Tayla Desjarlais cut three minutes off her previous time.

“Again, I couldn’t have asked for much more,” Dreiling said.

Tonight the teams run in Thompson Falls.
