Badger girls softball

BONNERS FERRY — The Badger softball season opened with a big win March 24 as the girls downed the Sandpoint JV squad 13-3 in five innings.

Chelsea Taggart pitched all five for the Badgers, throwing nine strike-outs and three walks to just four hits.

At bat, the Badgers combined for 15 hits. Mattea Bertling and Caitlin Alexander both led with three hits each, including a double for both, and Chelsea Taggart popped three singles.

Jordan Porter hit two, including a triple, and Sammye Tompkins also hit two, including a double.

Aaramie Hoisington, and Fallon Orr each hit a single.

The next game for the Badgers is a home double header against Timberlake at 11 a.m. On Tuesday, the girls travel to Priest River, and on Thursday they visit Troy, Mont. Both those games begin at 4 p.m.
