This is in response to the March 26, 2010, opinion “USA: Time to split into two countries.” Hans Neumann wants to divide the nation. Republicans would be on one side, and Democrats on the other. Fantastic, Hans! Although you’re idea is nine years too late. Your new country would have gotten George Bush, and our side would have gotten Al Gore. However, since Clinton left us with a surplus, we would insist that our country inherits it. 

Also, the several trillion dollar War looking for WMD’s would be billed directly to the Republican Nation. Similarly, the additional several trillion dollar tax breaks to the rich, compliments of King George would only be enjoyed by the GOP elite. Appropriately, the bill would also be forwarded to the Republican Nation.

As history testifies, the GOP would immediately be in a $5 trillion deficit which actually would be equal to a $10 trillion deficit since the Democratic Nation would not have to absorb half of the debt.

The Republican Nation would turn away all immigrants and people in need. They of course would be welcome on our side. OK Hans? Since you have described God as the ultimate authority in your Nation, we would never expect you to be generous and help the needy. However, since the GOP has already assumed the power of God to create life by granting Corporations Personhood and ensuring them everlasting life, why even need God? 

Also Hans, since our Nation would pay its citizens better wages and benefits, and ensure them Universal Health Care from “cradle to grave,” where would you recruit your work force? China? Even if you re-introduce slavery, it would not be long until they would come to us for protection and freedom. They also would be welcome, since our new alternative energy nation would produce new jobs and opportunities to live in a healthy environment, which would cut down on health costs in our future. The Republican Nation would continue to make Exxon even richer, and be able to ravage the Earth with no limitations. Please send the EPA and OSHA workers over to our side as well. 

Hey Hans, I am beginning to really like your idea! All of us “Socialist Hethens” would be on one side actually living according to God’s word, and your rich elites can be on the other side gloriously mounting up on their camels while your lobbyists bribe God to enlarge the eye of the needle.
