CC Spokane claims victory in Cardinal-Bigfoot Shootout

POST FALLS - Community Colleges of Spokane won 42 of a possible 71 holes Saturday to claim the Cardinal-Bigfoot Shootout over North Idaho College at The Links Golf Club. The teams were playing a match play format, with scores tallied from an individual win on each hole. Spokane finished with a 71-52 win in the two-day tournament.

The teams were playing a match play format, with scores tallied from an individual win on each hole. Spokane finished with a 71-52 win in the two-day tournament.
"It wasn't great golf weather," North Idaho coach Randy Boswell said. "But we got it done and I'm glad we were able to finish it up."
Branden Dalton paced the Cardinal men with an 74 in the final round.
Spokane's Taylor Porter, formerly of Coeur d'Alene High, earned medalist honors in the tournament with a final-round 74. Two other former Vikings, Kyler Gable and Tyler Johnson, shot 75 and 83, respectively, for the Sasquatch.
"It was some good competition," Boswell said. "I wish we would have had some good weather and shown how good we could have done."
North Idaho travels to Quail Ridge Golf Course in Clarkston, Wash., on Friday for the Lewis-Clark State Invitational.

EPHRAIM, Utah - North Idaho College sophomore Amanda Krier went 7 of 7 from the plate as the Cardinals split with Snow College in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader at Badger Field.
Krier had six RBIs in the Cardinals' 12-2 win in the first game, hitting a three-run home run in the top of the third inning. The Cardinals put up eight runs in the final two innings to put the game away. Alyssa Erickson went the distance in the circle for North Idaho (23-21, 16-16 SWAC).
North Idaho jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, but Snow (10-21, 7-16) battled back with nine runs in the final three innings to earn a split.
Krier had three hits and three runs scored, including a solo home run in the top of the second inning. Jessica Ross had two hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals, who travel to Western Nevada on Friday and Saturday for a pair of SWAC doubleheaders.
