Othello records blowout victories

WAPATO — Othello made short work of hosts Wapato on Saturday as the Lady Huskies pulled off a resounding 16-2, 23-5 Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) softball sweep.

Othello recorded 14 hits in the first game as Eden Garza recorded the win from the mound.

Alyssa Martinez went 3-for-4 with a homerun, a triple, and four RBI for Othello, while teammates Lindsay Garza went 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBI, and Miranda Martinez who finished 2-for-3.

The Lady Huskies got even more prolific in game two, with 21 hits in the rout.

Brenda Rodriguez pitched for the win while multiple batters recorded multiple hits for the Huskies.

Rodriguez went 4-for-4 with a homerun and three RBI to aid her own cause, Lindsay Garza went 3-for-3 with two RBI, Miranda Martinez went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Daisy Salgado completed a 2-for-3 day with a double and two RBI tacked on, Alyssa Martinez went 2-for-3, Joanna Quezada recorded a 2-for-4 day with a home run, and Kim Bulls hit to a 2-for-2 tune which included a triple.

Othello’s Breanna Montemayor added a home run in the offensive onslaught.

Ellensburg 12-16, Ephrata 0-6

EPHRATA — CWAC powers Ellensburg flexed their muscles in a 12-0, 16-6 sweep of Ephrata on Saturday.

In the cold, wind, and rainy conditions, the Lady Tigers found a way to score in the second game on the day, becoming the first team to score on Ellensburg to date, according to Ephrata coach JoElle Malone.

Ephrata scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning of the second game before Ellensburg got heated up.

Kristina Allen had two hits and Kayla Brissey added the other hit for Ephrata.

Davenport 10-10, ACH 0-8

DAVENPORT — Too little too late.

The Almira/Coulee-Hartline softball team finally got their offense going in the seventh inning of their second game of a two-game set at Davenport on Saturday.

But by then they trailed 10-1, and despite their seven-run barrage, the ACH Lady Warriors (1-2) fell 10-8 after dropping a 10-0 decision in game one.
