COEUR d'ALENE - The very life was leaving tiny Tinker Bell after drinking the poison, but there was one way to save her.

Fortunately, Peter Pan knew it.

She told the audience to clap. Put those hands together, let Tink know you believe, she shouted.

And as the crowd in the Lake City Playhouse did as instructed, Tinker Bell (played by 5-year-old Eden Carpenter) rose slowly to her feet, then bound off the stage and dashed up the aisle between the seats. She reached the end, and sprinted back, a giant smile on her small face.

She was alive and yes, very well.

And that's just part of the production of Peter Pan being put on by Ain't It Good Productions at the Lake City Playhouse today and this weekend.

"It's a lot of fun. It's about people fighting wanting to grow up," said Sandy Clemons, co-director, producer, choreographer and musical director.

The cast of 34 has been preparing four months for the musical that has three acts.

It's Clemons' first time producing Pan.

"Doing the play has helped me fall in love with it a little more. The music is absolutely addictive," she said. "You hum almost every song,"

Peter Pan is played by Natalie Carroll.

"People always wonder if Peter Pan is a boy or a girl. It's often played by a girl because the music is high and low in the range and you've got to be really a young persona," Clemons said. "It's usually a girl, because girls can play a younger persona than boys sometimes."

Tiger Lilly is being played by Jasmine Garrett, while Schmid is being played by Miranda Fisher.

Jordan Gookin, Clemons' 23-year-old son, is Captain hook. He's a graduate of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

"He truly is a wonderful actor, so he brings a lot of fun," Clemons said. "Jordan has an amazing voice."

Adults play all the pirates in the show, and most of the Indians.

"We always cast adults in the show because we want the kids to be able to learn and have the experience of a more mature group, plus it's great parent control," she added with a laugh.

Jillian Kramer is the co-director and David Clemons is set designer and builder.
