The SNJ-3 has been restored and painted in the Marine Corps color scheme of the era.

The aircraft had been on loan to the museum, but fundraising efforts allowed it to be purchased outright.

Brad DeBow is a guide at the museum. He said the aircraft was the main advanced trainer during World War II and was capable of teaching pilots all the air combat maneuvering needed for a front-line fighter.
