John Robin Darrow, 49, a resident of Cusick, Wash., lifted his sails on April 9, 2010, concluding his journey here on earth, after a brief battle with cancer. John was born Jan. 2, 1961, in Billings to George and Eileen Darrow. He was raised and educated in Billings. Then he went on to attend Flathead Valley Community College. John spent many of his summers in the Beartooth Mountains, hiking, fishing, camping and helping his family run a boat rental business at Kersey Lake. Here is where he developed his love of nature and appreciation of all creation. In 1984, John moved to the northeastern Washington area where he spent most of his working career as an electrician. In John s spare time, one would find him with family and friends, whether it was walking his dogs, hiking in the mountains, at his cabin or laughing and enjoying life to its fullest. John was a member of the American Legion Club, Post 217 in Cusick. John was a good friend and neighbor to all he knew. John was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Riedl Darrow; and his stepmother, Elna Eshom Darrow. John is survived by the love of his life and soul mate of 11 years, Rose Murphy, and her three daughters and grandkids of Washington; his father, George Darrow, of Bigfork; his sister, Karen Darrow, of Whitefish; and brothers, Roy Darrow and wife, Jeanne, with their two daughters, of Powell, Wyo., and Reed Darrow and wife, Cathie, with their five children of Kalispell. John, we will always miss your huge smile and broad shoulders! Love you, dear, son, brother and uncle! Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home and Crematory will be caring for the family. John s ashes will be scattered at a later date, at his beloved Kersey Lake, out of Cooke City. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guest book at sherman-knapp.com.
