COLUMBIA FALLS - The Ronan girls' track team tied for sixth place with Eureka Saturday at the Columbia Falls Invitational with a team score of 29.

Junior Adessa Durglo had a strong meet, finishing first in the long jump with a leap of 15-8, first in the triple jump with a jump of 31-7 and fourth in the high jump at a height of 4-8. Durglo is the two-time defending divisional champion in triple jump.

Pitts said that the girls' team lost four very competitive seniors last year and are only competing only one senior this year, making this year's team very young.

"We have a lot of learning to do," girls' head coach Crystal Pitts said. "But we now know what it takes to do well at a track meet."

Sophomore Jenny Larson tied her personal best in the high jump with a jump of 4-6, which she also jumped on April 6 at the Frenchtown Quad Meet.

The boys' team finished ninth on Saturday with a team score of 25. They trailed closely behind Noxon with a score of 27 and Troy with a score of 29.5.

Sophomore Marcus Hungerford placed third in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:08.8. Sophomore Cody Johnson placed sixth in the 1600 with a time of 5:26.7. Junior Jordan Franklin placed fourth in the high jump with a jump of 5-10 and third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.9. Senior Gui Silva followed closely in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.0.

Ronan's next rack meet is at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Bigfork Invitational.
