The Dry Bridge Family Fishing Pond in Kalispell recently was stocked with more than 2,000 rainbow trout with the help of Hooked On Fishing fourth-graders from Hedges and Peterson schools.

The trout ranged from 8 inches to 18 pounds and the students carried the fish from hatchery trucks to the pond in five-gallon buckets.

The trout were provided by the Creston National Fish Hatchery, the Murray Springs State Fish Hatchery in Eureka and the Jocko River State Fish Hatchery in Arlee.

Dry Bridge Pond is located in a city park off Woodland Avenue south of the Conrad Mansion. Family fishing ponds are open to all anglers; adults 15 and older have to turn their fish loose.

The Shady Lane Pond, near Old Steel Bridge, has fish now but more will be planted this month. The Buffalo Head Pond, near Flathead Valley Community College, will be planted in mid-May.
