RONAN - The Ronan softball team took a string of losses last week. The Maidens were in each game with hits but head coach Tom Peterson said, but those hits weren't strung together to get runs across the plate.

Against Corvallis, the Maidens gave up eight hits in the loss and against Frenchtown the next night, lost 7-2.

On Modnay night, the Maidens were up 4-0 against Libby in the third before the Loggers came back to score three runs. Both teams had nine hits, but Libby's were more timely, Peterson said.

"We didn't do too bad at the plate," he said. "It's just our timing. Hitting is so mental and our girls are trying to do too much."

Sophmore Bethany Coleman pitched all three games and stuck out a total of 23 batters in the three games.

Peterson said Coleman has been doing a great job on the mound, pitching a total of six games and struggling only in two. Knowing that Ronan's second pitcher is hurt, Coleman "knows the game is on her shoulders," he said.

Ronan plays Columbia Falls next Tuesday and Peterson said the Maidens are going to practice and work on things that need to be worked on as three games back to back to back have prevented a good practice.
