Christina Amelia delPulgar left this earth on July 30, 2010, to join the love of her life, Santiago, who predeceased her in June 1995 after 56 years of marriage. She was a kind and gentle person who was much loved by her family. Christina was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 16, 1907, to Lewis Mornwig and Wilhemina Christina Jacob. Christina attended schools in the New York area. At the age of 22 years, she married Antonio Palmer and lived several years in Aruba. This union produced a daughter. Several years later they were divorced. Christina returned to the U.S. and worked for Pepsi Cola and American Chickel. She soon met Santiago at a New Year s Eve party. Every Saturday for a year she received a dozen red roses from Santiago before he asked for a date; and on May 27, 1939, they were married. Three years later a daughter was born to them. Upon their retirement Christina and Santiago moved to California and took up raising and caring for an avocado farm in Fallbrook for 18 years, raising all kinds of fruit and vegetables. Christina then discovered her flair for painting in oils and later, watercolors. Upon their second retirement, they moved to Oceanside, Calif., where they resided until Santiago passed away. Christina moved to Somers in 1996 to be closer to her daughter. She was also predeceased by her parents and her sister, Edna Wall. Christina is survived by her beloved daughters, June Palmer of Hot Springs, S.D., and Diana Kouns of Somers; grandchildren, Derek Morton of Medford, Ore., and Christina Scott of Somers; great-grandsons, Sgt. Tomar and Vida Scott, and Sgt. Brandon Scott, both of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Cory Richardson of North Hollywood, Calif., and Spc. Cortney Richardson of Fort Carson, Colo.; and great-great-grandchildren, Jada Christine Scott, Christian Scott, Jersey Scott and Dominick Parker, all of Ohio. There will be no services held at her request. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in her memory to the Kalispell animal shelter. The family also wants to thank everyone at Whitefish Care and Rehab and North Valley Hospital for the wonderful care given to our mother. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
