Heavy rain and hail complemented a brilliant lighting display as part of a major storm system Saturday night. This map illustrates the 1,262 lighting strikes that hit within Lake County. Of that number, 32 were “positive” strikes, meaning the likelihood of a fire starting is greater. As of press time, no major fires had been reported, but because of the numerous strikes over the weekend, please call

police or your local fire department with reports of smoke or fire.
