Chuck Taylor of Hungry Horse, passed away peacefully Aug. 11, 2010, at home at the age of 65, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 21, 1945, in Oakland, Calif., to Charles Edward LeRoy and Bessie Parker Taylor Hatfield. He joined the U.S. Navy and, after being honorably discharged, he became a master diesel mechanic. He married Kathy Douhan in Tijuana, Mexico, Aug. 27, 1968. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, fast cars and boats. He loved his horses, dogs, cats and goats. He was a T-ball coach for five years and was involved with 4-H for many years. He moved to Hungry Horse in 1991 and attended the Cowboy Church. Chuck is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Hungry Horse; his daughter, Nancy, and Joe Davis, of Marion, son, Charles III, and Beth, of Minot, N.D.; daughter, Charlotte, and Bobby Martin, of Hamilton, son, Chris Taylor, of Wyoming; sister, Eva Vincent, of Clovis, Calif.; brother, Norman Winters, of Fresno, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Sandra, Therese, Jackie, Melody, Samantha, Amanda and JT; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, PFC Nicholas Cook. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
