William Cirincione placed in the finals of the 100 butterfly and posted personal best times in several events, while Maxie Scroggs and Lars Thorderson also notched personal best times at Western Zones in San Jose, Calif., last weekend.
All three swimmers are members of the KATS.
“Any time we can get to zones and pop some of our personal records and make a presence there and be a part of Team Montana is excellent,” KATS coach Brandon Rannebarger said.
“We’re qualifying KATS for upper level meets.”
Having three KATS at Western Zones was the most the team has ever qualified and sent.
All swimmers qualified for Zones in one event, but swam in seven in California.
“Maxie was on the second-place relay,” Rannebarger said.
“That was huge.”
Scroggs swam with Team Montana on the 200 medley. She swam the 50 backstroke in the relay.
“She had three personal bests, that’s good,” Rannebarger said.
“They come back a little disappointed, but any time you get a personal best, that’s outstanding.”
Cirincione was the only KATS swimmer to make the finals. He finished sixth in the 100 butterfly.
“He took six seconds off his state personal best time in the fly,” Rannebarger said.
Thorderson had three personal best times and competed on a relay.
Forty-one swimmers from around the state were on Team Montana.
