MOSES LAKE — Hair stylist Tyler Bishop recently opened the Third & Alder Salon in downtown Moses Lake’s Desert Plaza building.

MOSES LAKE - Hair stylist Tyler Bishop recently opened the Third & Alder Salon in downtown Moses Lake's Desert Plaza building.

Bishop is also working with another stylist, Alisha Hansen. A third stylist starts work on Tuesday.

"Things are going awesome," Bishop said. "We've been busy. I'm happy with how things turned out. We've already seen a lot of new people. I love it."

He wants to create something young, fun and relaxing with his business.

Bishop aims to listen to clients' needs and wants to create a positive experience.

"I love doing hair," he said. "We're passionate about what we do."

He strives to make customers happy, even when they're not pleased about the results.

One example is when he colored a customer's hair just like she requested. Even so, she thought her hair turned out too dark.

Although he did what she asked, he went the extra mile and completed a corrective color.

Bishop wants his staff to be happy, "to produce amazing hair always" and stay current with continuing education.

Stylists stop growing when they don't keep up with new trends, as styles and fashions are constantly changing.

What he loves most about the hair business is making someone feel good about themselves.

"It's awesome," he said. "Seeing someone cry when they're so happy about the way they look is awesome."

Third & Alder Salon's downtown location allows him to see everything from Third Avenue.

He enjoys talking and meeting new people while doing hair.

He's been in the business for four years. He previously worked at Salon Goddess and Smart Style.

Bishop received his education at Blades on Broadway in Moses Lake.

His salon offers hair cuts for men, women and children; color, root touch-up, highlights, partial color, toner, men's hair color, extra color, perms and up-dos.

The business is located at 124 E. Third Ave., Suite 203, Moses Lake. For more information, call 509-350-5822.

The salon is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
