ROYAL CITY - The addition of a new community center is underway near Royal City.
It's located at the Royal City Public Golf Course and RV Park.
Installation of the modular clubhouse should be completed by Sept. 8, said Rhonda Davis, a fund-raising committee member for the golf association.
Volunteers are now adding the foundation and plumbing.
Once completed, businesses and the general public can rent the building to hold meetings.
The clubhouse is a welcome addition to the community, featuring a wrap around deck and full kitchen.
"It will give us more capacity for different activities," she explained.
The City of Royal City rents the golf course to the golf association, which runs the course as a public entity.
Funds paid for green fees finance the maintenance costs for the golf course.
"We have virtually nothing here," Davis said. "The community doesn't have a place to really build anything. It's kind of hard being dual-purpose, but it's feasible."
The city was able to assist the golf association with obtaining Grant County Strategic Infrastructure Program (SIP) funds.
Project funding is comprised of a $142,632 SIP grant and a $50,000 loan from the city.
Davis described the location at Dodson Road and state Route 26 as being "very visible for tourism.
"Besides being a nine-hole golf course, we have camp sites available and motor home hookups," she said.
The clubhouse is located at 13702 Dodson Road South.
