Davenport to sign book

Legendary big mountain skier Chris

Davenport will be at Crush Wine Bar on Dec. 18 for the annual

Whitefish Mountain Films slide show. Art Burrows, a world-renown

pioneer of modern telemark skiing, will join Davenport at the event

to host a book signing of “50 Classic Ski Descents of North

America.”

Davenport and Burrows will also present

a video about the making of the book. Pro skier and mountaineer Kim

Havell will offer a never-before-seen episode of Salomon FreeSki TV

featuring her mountaineering trip with Chris Rubens in Morocco last

spring. Several other regional filmmakers and photographers will

present some remarkable films and slides.

Whitefish Mountain Films is a

celebration of locally and nationally renowned skiers, mountaineers

and filmmakers. The book signing is from 4 to 6 p.m., and the film

screening starts at 7 p.m. The event is free to attend. Proceeds

from the $1 raffle will benefit Whitefish Legacy Partners and The

Whitefish Trail.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue

Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.
