Staunch defense propels Bulldogs past Wildcats

KELLOGG — The Bulldog girls got off to a lightning-quick start Tuesday night in a nonleague road basketball game in Kellogg, grabbing a 16-0 lead after one quarter and cruising to a 39-27 win over the Wildcats.

Freshman guard Hailey Olin led the Bulldogs (3-6) with 13 points, Maggie Kirscher added eight points and nine rebounds, and Natasha Roop scored four to go with eight boards.

The Bulldogs also ratcheted up the defense in the third quarter, allowing only three points, and limited their turnovers to just 14.

Marah Ashcraft led the Wildcats with 20 points in defeat.

Sandpoint is at St. Maries on Thursday.
