TWIN BRIDGES - Shooting woes hurt the Scarlets over the weekend as they dropped two games in the season tipoff tournament.

"We just didn't shoot the ball well," head coach Richard Bachmeier said.

Arlee lost to Twin Bridges 64-35 on Friday and then fell to Ennis 53-21 on Saturday.

"We're just not there yet," Bachmeier said.

One thing the Scarlets were adjusting to was live game speed again and understanding how to have a fast release on the shot.

"You can shoot really well in practice," Bachmeier said. "When you get into the game, things change."

The Scarlets shot 20 percent on Friday and 13 percent from Saturday.

"It depends on what the defense is doing and both of those teams down there were great defensive ball clubs," Bachmeier said. "We're working on it, we're going to get there."

There's plenty of positives to take from the weekend though. Twin Bridges coach, Ron Lott, told Bachmeier after the game "I'll see you at divisionals."

"They have a great program down there with going to divisionals and state and he saw something in us he liked," Bachmeier said.

Mahalia Hendren was Arlee's leading scorer against Twin Bridges with eight points while Kristyn Adams had seven.

Hendren also had 10 rebounds in that game.

"We actually rebounded fairly well," Bachmeier said. "Not outstanding but we held our own on the boards and that's positive."

In the second game against Ennis, Tiffany O'Neil was the leading scorer with five.

Bachmeier was able to play 13 girls in the game and get a good look at his depth.

"That was on purpose to see how they'd step up," Bachmeier said.

Arlee will host the Lincoln girls on Friday night, and then travel to St. Regis on Saturday.

"I think we'll do a lot better," Bachmeier said. "I'm positive about both of those games."
