St. MARIES — With the game on the line late in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs went to their go-to player and Maggie Kirscher responded, scoring four big points on the blocks to lead Sandpoint to a 33-29 road win over St. Maries in nonleague girls basketball Thursday night.

Kirscher finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Hailey Olin continues to emerge as a scoring option for the Bulldogs, dropping in 12 points.

For the fifth time in the past seven games, the Bulldogs (4-6) have held their opponent under 30 points. Stiff defense and only five second half turnovers helped them grind out a win.

“We could never get into any flow,” said head coach Lance Bruce. “In the fourth quarter we got Maggie on the blocks in some isolations and she got us the lead.”

The Bulldogs host West Valley on Saturday.
