MOSES LAKE - The Ballet Academy of Moses Lake with Today's Generation are performing 'The Nutcracker' Saturday.

Two performances of the Christmas play showcase dancers three years and older.

"It really runs all ages," says Kim Cleverly. "Everybody is invited."

The story centers around a young girl named Clara, who is given a nutcracker for Christmas. During a bout of sibling teasing, her brother, Fritz, breaks the doll.

Then, during the night, the nutcracker comes to life and accompanies Clara on a magical journey.

"It's something adults would like and little kids as well because it's about a little girl," Cleverly says.

Performers and organizers have been working on the show for months.

Choreography just started in August but Cleverly says director Lacey Stowers began planning during February of 2009.

"It's going to be a great show," Cleverly says. "The choreography is beautiful, the costumes are beautiful and to a lot of people it's a Christmas tradition."

Two performances are scheduled for Saturday, the first at 1 p.m. and the second at 7 p.m. in the Moses Lake High School Theater, located at 803 Sharon Ave.

Tickets are available at the door for $5 for general admission or $10 for reserved seating.
