I got a great Christmas present recently. It was before
Christmas Day, and I won't be able to use it until next spring, but
it was a terrific gift just the same. I got a call from Macks Lure,
which is a local fishing tackle manufacturer, and sends it products
all over the world. You may be familiar with their Wedding Ring
spinner that has been around for decades.
I got a great Christmas present recently. It was before Christmas Day, and I won't be able to use it until next spring, but it was a terrific gift just the same. I got a call from Macks Lure, which is a local fishing tackle manufacturer, and sends it products all over the world. You may be familiar with their Wedding Ring spinner that has been around for decades. They know that I am involved with several fishing events for kids every year, and thought I could help them out. They had some extra product. It is all new, but some of the items have been up dated or are packaged with their old label. They thought that I might want to take some of this off their hands, and distribute to the kids that attend the events. Boy, were they right. They invited me to their plant, pointed out the shelves that I could raid, and just like a kids in a free candy store, I began stuffing boxes. There were lures, leaders, all kinds of things that these kids will be thrilled to have. Hundreds of kids will benefit from the generosity of the folks at Macks Lure. A big thanks from me, and all the kids that will have a big smile on their faces.

Opportunities to catch steelhead abound
We've had a lot of wet but actually pretty mild weather in the region. Anglers that like to chase steelhead have had good conditions for it. The announcement of the closure of the steelhead seasons on several of our rivers here in Central Washington wasn't as severe as anticipated. I will provide the details of the closures and share my experiences on the water in this column. There is still a lot of water open to fishing. I am continuing to do my duty to remove as many hatchery fish from our rivers as possible.
Fishing Magician Report - May 16th
The Fishin Magician
I want to be sure everyone is aware of the big seminar coming up at Town Ford on January 12th. For the first time ever Buzz Ramsey is coming to Wenatchee to share his insights on steelhead fishing. Buzz has been named to the Hall of Fame with the Association of Northwest Steelheaders and the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. He is also a Pro-Staffer for a variety of very big name makers of fishing products, including Berkley, Abu Garcia, Minn Kota, Willie Boats, Mercury Motors and others. I am happy to also announce that Anton Jones, Darrell and Dads Family Guide Service, has agreed to be at the seminar, too. He guides on Rufus Woods and will provide information on how to fish for the triploid rainbow up there. He has been fishing Rufus Woods for many years and will have current information on the fishing up there. The seminar is going to be a very special one and I hope you all can make it. I also want to remind everyone that my Signature Salmon Spread is now available at Mike's Meat and Farmers Market on North Wenatchee Avenue. Get some for your New Year's Party!
