Boys Badgers C team defeats Priest River

The Badgers boys C team beat Priest River at home on Dec. 18 with a score of 33 to 26.

Connor Bennett and Casey Smith had tow points each, John Brown came in with eight points Kyler Rice had five, Nick Ray had three points, Christian Trocke and Jared Lysne  had six, and Kody Rice added one point.

“This was by far our best game all around so far this season,” said coach Paul Elston.  “The kids have put in good work and they deserved to win this game.”

Elston said the team had performances from John Brown and Kyler Rice. Defensively the team was fairly solid for the most part.

Elston credited Jared Lysne and Kody Rice with a good  job of getting key defensive rebounds in the 4th quarter.

“I was very proud of the effort the team showed and this was a good bounce-back win for the team, as we had a tough stretch of games against good quality opponents,

The Badgers C team dropped two home games Moscow on Dec. 17 with a score of 58 to 38, and also to Libby with a final of 50 to 27 on Dec. 16.

“Moscow has a very athletic and good starting rotation and we had difficulty in matching up with their speed, quickness, and overall athleticism,” Elston said.

Elston said the Badgers did not get off to a good start with the Libby team.

“Libby established and maintained the tempo of the game from start to finish,” said Elston.  “They were better than we were today.”

“We were more assertive offensively in the second half. In order to get ourselves in a better position, we have to start the game aggressive on offense and maintain throughout,” said Elston.

The C team plays again at 5 p.m. on Jan. 6, in Troy.
