Johnson leads Chiefs past Thunderbirds

SPOKANE - Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson scored three goals in the second period as the Spokane Chiefs outshot the Seattle Thunderbirds 56-14 in an 8-2 Western Hockey League win in front of 5,816 at the Spokane Arena on Wednesday.

Dominik Uher had three assists for Spokane (21-10-3-2, 47 points), which plays at Tri-City on Friday night.

Spokane trails Portland by six points in the U.S. Division and leads Tri-City by three points for second place.
